How to Use Metamucil for Diarrhea

Usually the most common usage for metamucil is solving constipation problem.  Those who suffer from constipation are advised to take metamucil or Isabgol to get relief.  Usually isabgol or metamucil needs to be taken with water or milk to get relief.  However it is less known that isabgol or metamucil can also help in getting relief in diarrhea.  In this article you will information on that.

How to Use Metamucil for Diarrhea

Before we go into treating diarrhea with metamucil let us try to understand little bit more about diarrhea.  Diarrhea is a condition where in you would suffer from loose stool.  You may also have high frequency of passing stool.  This can happen due to many reasons including bacterial infection or stomach upset due to bad food combination.  Some time it can also happen due to food poisoning.

What ever may be the reason for diarrhea you should always be careful whenever you suffer from this problem.  Usually Diarrhea can quickly escalate into a major problem and many times become life threatening especially in kids.  The reason is there is rapid fluid loss in diarrhea.

For treating diarrhea with metamucil you should take it with yogurt which is also know as curd.  Take two teaspoon of metamucil or isabgol and mix it in a bowl of yogurt.  If required add little water.  Eat the mixture twice a day.  This combination is prescribed in Ayurveda for binding stool and stopping diarrhea.

Some other remedies may include taking banana, lentil soup and papaya.  Raw papaya has enzymes which remove stomach infections.  You can boil the raw papaya before having it.  These remedies can be taken along with isabgol with yogurt also.
